Day 2: Sightseeing of Split and rafting
In the morning you will explore Split, administrative center of Middle Dalmatia. Modern day Split is the result of impressive 17 centuries of building, renovating and remodeling, almost constantly changing. The new of today is successfully and harmoniously combined with the old of yesterday. Split’s lively historical core is nestled around Diocletian’s Palace that this Emperor built for his retirement at the turn of the 4th century. The Palace was proclaimed UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. Envisioned in its beginning as an imperial residence and fortified camp, this glorious structure today is an intriguing warren of narrow cobblestone streets. Here, pre-Romanesque churches live alongside Gothic Chapels, history-filled museums, art galleries and inviting restaurants in a symbiosis which marks the uniqueness of the city’s soul.
In the afternoon we will proceed to the town of Omiš. This delightful port is located on the Dalmatian coastline, approximately 25 km southeast of Split. Our rafting adventure begins from the small village Kućići near the town of Omiš, at the mouth of the Cetina River, below the imposing cliff tops of the Mosor and Dinara Mountains. We’ll raft through the canyon past the small village of Slime. The water here is a peaceful stream that does not require special physical preparation, allowing you to enjoy the crystal clear water.
As with the saying “calm before the storm”, the more adventurous part of the route follows. Abundant rapids, obstacles, waterfalls and lush vegetation creating ”live” tunnels, will definitely get your heart beating faster, leaving you feeling far from civilization.
In this part of the river we’ll take a short break to visit a magnificent cave beneath “Studenci” falls. Rafting along the Cetina River reveals exceptional diversity of flora and fauna and the unique phenomenon of the Dalmatian karst which will definitely leave you breathless on many occasions.

Along our route, we will see examples of well-preserved ancient methods of Greek parceling including the embryonic church-fort and roman villa rustic.
You will be seduced by the smell of aromatic plants and Mediterranean herbs as we pass through abandoned villages, vineyards and olive groves. This is the island of sun and lavender; our guides will describe you interesting, almost forgotten customs that will take you back in time.
You will also enjoy climbing the highest peak of the Adriatic islands, Vidova Gora (778 m above sea level). Views over the surrounding islands are definitely a feast for sore eyes.
At the peak you will have a chance to discover the remains of double defensive walls and ancient Illyrian ruins. Here you will also find a 12 meter tall cross made from pearly white Brač stone. It is a widespread claim that The White House in Washington was built from Brač stone.
We will have a well-deserved break reserved for enjoying the spectacular view of Makarska Riviera before heading back to the base.

The town of Hvar is island’s most famous and busiest place. It is no wonder because of its rich heritage and many historical monuments which attract a lot of visitors. The walking tour will reveal only some of them, such as the 16th century Theatre, 13thcentury Arsenal, Franciscan Monastery, Benedictine Monastery and the St. Stephen’s Cathedral. You will also notice squares surrounded by numerous churches and palaces in different architectural styles, all contributing to beauty and uniqueness of this charming town.
The tour starts with an easy stroll to the Franciscan Monastery, built in the 15th century. There is a rich display of artifacts in the monastery collection, which is also the oldest on the island. It consists of paintings, manuscripts, old coins and incunabula. Perhaps the most famous is the remarkable painting of the Last Supper (2 x 8m), adored by all visitors. On your route, you will also see the St. Stephen’s Cathedral situated on the main square and built on the site of an early 6th century church.
Our hiking task today is conquering one of Croatia’s highest peaks, St. Nicholas. The moderate trek on a switchback trail begins at the small church of St. Michael near Dol village. From here we’ll walk along the old road towards the peak. The view around us opens up with each step and becomes even more attractive. The unique cross and a small stone chapel are located at the peak. We will take a short break for a snack and refreshment, and then hike the same route back.

Day 6: Island of Korčula biking tour
Discover the ancient Greek colony “Korkyra Melaina” (lit. black Korčula, because of its rich pine and cypress vegetation mixed with other Mediterranean flora, covering more than 60% of the island). The island of Korčula is one of the most inhabited islands in the Adriatic Sea.
It belongs to the central Dalmatian archipelago and is separated from the Pelješac peninsula by a narrow channel. According to a legend, this beautiful island was founded by Trojan hero Antenor in the 12th century BC.
After the breakfast, we will embark on a boat. We will sail out east, around the island of Hvar (its east end), enjoying the crystal clear sea and warm rays of sun, with lunch onboard. In the afternoon, we will reach the strait of Pelješac and the town of Korčula, supposedly the birthplace of world-known explorer Marco Polo.
The old town of Korčula is where our exploration begins for the day. The town of Korčula often evokes memories of Dubrovnik because it is located on a small headland with Venetian architecture, defensive walls and attractive pan tiled roofs. The biking tour starts from the old town of Korčula and continues towards the small villages of Medvidnjak and Žrnovo. Our bike trail leads us further to the small village of Lumbarda. Beautiful scenery of old stone houses and rich vegetation will accompany us along the entire route. The island’s dense woodland and aromatic Mediterranean plants makes you think you are in a contemporary Garden of Eden. Lumbarda is a small fishermen village of around 1200 inhabitants. It is situated at the eastern part of the island of Korčula. The village is built around a small bay and on the hills behind it, surrounded by large sandy vineyards where exceptional native varieties are grown.
Here, you will be able to enjoy some time at leisure. Make the best use of it by exploring the area or taking a dip in the refreshing Adriatic Sea. We will cycle through numerous picturesque parts of Korčula and then return to the port. Overnight stay in Korčula.

It was discovered by ancient Greco-Roman geographers, who wrote the first records and descriptions around the 6th century BC. Today, parts of the island are protected as a National Park, including the western part of the island, the Big Lake, the Small Lake and Soline Bay.
Perhaps the most famous story about the island of Mljet is the legend of Odyssey. There are also tales of Mljet being one of the islands “lost” at sea, not easily reached alone. You will have the opportunity to explore this famous historical spot.
Our hiking tour begins in the lovely port of Pomena located at the west end of the island. Our route passes through areas of National Park, which is a true delight. We will hike next to two saltwater lakes, the most visited attractions on the island. We will also explore deep pine forests and pristine natural surroundings, which will again remind you why there are so many tales of this amazing island.

We will have a morning transfer from the island of Korčula to Dubrovnik. Upon arrival to Dubrovnik, we will not waste any time and we will start with sightseeing. An enjoyable walk through the history of Dubrovnik and its monuments is simply a must in this gorgeous seaside city. We will start our tour from the heart of the Old City, the main street Stradun. We will continue towards the 15th century Rector’s Palace and Dubrovnik’s Maritime Museum located in St. John’s fort. It was rebuilt after a heavy earthquake which damaged it in 1979.
After that, we will visit the Rector’s Palace (15th century) which has been the seat of the government of formerly independent Republic of Dubrovnik (abolished by Napoleon in 1808). Today this place shows us the way aristocracy of the place used to live. Our tour will continue through “Sponza” Palace, famous for its atrium and carved stone columns. You will also visit elegant cathedral built on the ruins of a 12th century church.
The afternoon will be more active with an organized sea kayak expedition along the Adriatic coast. We will begin our tour beneath the fort Lovrijenac in the small port of Pile. In the safe company of instructors, we’ll set off to explore the caves and beauties of Lokrum Island until we reach hidden cave beach Betina. We’ll take a break there for snorkeling and snacks before paddling back.
