Mountain Snijeznica hiking tour

This tour explores traces of the old Austro-Hungarian trail built in the early 20th century. Our hike and ascent begins in Mihanići, charming village that found its place between Sniježnica Mountain range and Konavle valley. An old railway line was passing through this picturesque rural settlement until it was closed in 1969.

The route continues towards the lovely village of Kuna beneath the highest peak of Sniježnica Mountain range, St. Elijah, which overlooks the valley from 1,234 meters above sea level. A short break in Kuna is planned to freshen up and prepare for the final climb.

We’ll then start moving towards the peak through the old trails dating from the 20th century. Hiking continues along old Austro-Hungarian paths and passes by the “Two Puddles,” watering holes for cattle and a place often visited by wild horses.
